In case of an Evacuation or Wildfire Emergency

Your Security Force has a standing action plan to activate in the case of a wild fire evacuation or other civil emergency. Download the Emergency Evacuation Document. In the unlikely need to conduct an evacuation, you can greatly assist the effectiveness of these plans by being informed in advance.

You should:
1. Familiarize yourself with the Montrêux HOA website to be able to get the latest information on any emergency situation from Montreux Security. Calling Security at these times would tie up the phone lines and create a distraction for the Security Force.
2. Find the location of nearby emergency gates providing alternative exit routes from Montreux. Map of Gates Make a copy of these gate locations and exit routes. Keep these copies in a known location.

In case of a wildfire, you can also take steps to significantly reduce the fire danger to your property. You can get advice and assistance in creating a defensible space around your residence. The Living With Fire program was developed to inform Nevadans how they can live safer in high fire hazard environments.

For example:
1. Be sure to remove pine needles from rain gutters.
2. Remove pine needles that fall and lay in the valleys of your roof. A small amount can be a fire danger.
3. Remove all dead and overgrown brush from your lot and under pine trees. Remove all limbs at least six feet above the ground surface.
4. Create a minimum 30 feet defensible space from any structure. If your home (structure) is only 15' from your property line you need to clear that 15' and your neighbor needs to clear another 15' even if that 15' is on a vacant lot.

The Montrêux CC&R's, which mandate that your property be maintained, include the requirement to remove dead limbs and other dead vegetation. For additional information on protecting your property, you can access the Living With Fire publication -- A Guide for the Homeowner – Eastern Sierra Front Version.
